(A river that tells stories)

The Little Pigeon River, as seen in our image today, splashes evenly through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park – a true secret tip that excites countless nature lovers every year. This impressive nature reserve, stretching across the border of Tennessee and North Carolina, USA, was once home to the Cherokee. They gave the region the name “Shalonage”, which aptly means “place of blue fog”. The crystal clear Little Pigeon River winds through the foggy peaks of the mountains and offers habitat for trout, otters and numerous bird species. Despite its location in one of the most visited national parks in the United States, there are moments of silence, clear watercourses and impressive waterfalls such as the Ramsey Cascades.
