The prairies of Mongolia are one of the most extensive and intact temperate grasslands on the planet. They stretch across millions of hectares of steppe and are home to species as unique as the Mongolian gazelle or the elusive snow leopard. In addition, they support some 200,000 nomadic shepherd families who, for centuries, have lived in harmony with the environment.
