The third Sunday in February is World Whale Day, dedicated to highlighting the beauty of these marine giants and the challenges they face. This year, on February 16, we pay tribute to majestic species such as the humpback whale, famous for its melodic songs and spectacular jumps. The commemoration began in 1980 in Maui, Hawaii, led by Greg Kauffman of the Pacific Whale Foundation, to protect humpbacks from extinction. Currently, it seeks to raise awareness about threats such as pollution, climate change and habitat loss.
