The K ö nigstein Fortress, also known as the "Saxony Bastille," is located on a mountain in the Saxony region of Switzerland near the town of K ö nigstein in Germany. This magnificent defensive structure covers an area of 9.5 hectares and is located 240 meters above the Yibei River, surrounded by a city wall that is 1800 meters long and 42 meters high. There is a 152.5 meter deep well inside, which is the second largest well in Europe. Its history can be traced back to 1241, and for centuries it has been a prison and military fortress, as well as a prisoner of war camp.
