At the top of the Pyrenees, an impressive rift in the mountains attracts all eyes: the Rolando rift. With more than 100 meters high and 40 meters wide, this natural formation is a spectacle that leaves no one indifferent. But who was Rolando? According to legend, this Frankish count, a military leader under Charlemagne in the 8th century, opened the rift in the mountains after being defeated in battle, either to destroy his sword or to contemplate one last glimpse of his beloved France.
