He knew about the Espejuelo fish of Catalonia, a species that is unlikely to be found in Spanish waters, but as striking as its name suggests. This fish is 45 to 50 centimeters long and is known for its large eyes adapted to the dim light of the deep sea and unique crescent shaped tail. Its jaw protrudes and has small conical teeth, completing its unique appearance. It mainly feeds on small fish, crustaceans, and invertebrates, which supports its active lifestyle when patrolling coral reefs in search of food.
