Bright and bold, sunflowers are loved by bees, birds and people of all ages. Its scientific name, Helianthus, comes from the Greek: helios (sun) and anthos (flower). These plants, of annual growth, stand out for their large flower heads, similar to daisies, and their intense yellow color, although there are also varieties in shades of red, orange and pomegranate.
