St Patrick's Day, celebrated on 17 March, pays homage to St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. This fifth-century missionary is remembered throughout the world through parades, music and traditional dances. Although this holiday is a national holiday in Ireland, curiously, the first St. Patrick's Day parade was not held in Ireland, but in the United States, in 1601, in St. Augustine, Florida, organized by the Irish vicar Richard Arthur.
