(This is not an ordinary Tuesday)

Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is a colorful holiday that marks the last day of indulgence before the start of Lent, Ash Wednesday. Its origins date back to ancient Roman celebrations such as Saturnalia, which, with the expansion of Christianity, merged with local traditions, giving rise to carnivals. Its name comes from the French, where gras means "fat", in reference to rich foods such as meat, eggs and cheese, consumed before the fasting period.
