Carved by the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon in the United States reveals nearly 2 billion years of Earth’s history in its impressive rock strata. Similarly, the Iberian Peninsula boasts the so-called Spanish “Grand Canyon”: the Canyon of Añisclo, in the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. There, the Bellós River has carved a landscape that also narrates millions of years of geological evolution. Both places are authentic windows into the past of our planet.
