Beeches are really amazing. There are several species worldwide, but the European beech stands out in much of Europe and Spain. With its smooth, grey bark, short trunk and wide branches, this tree is an emblem in the forests of Belgium, as shown in today's image. It grows in temperate regions and prefers fertile, well-drained soils, taking up to 30 years to mature. These trees, which can reach 50 meters in height, not only dominate the landscape, but their wood is also used to manufacture some of the most durable furniture, floors and even kitchen utensils.
