On the island of Sardinia in Italy, descending 654 steps and offering a spectacular view of the sea, is a natural wonder: Neptune Cave, an impressive stalactite cave located over one meter above sea level. Discovered by local fishermen in the 18th century and named after the Roman sea god, this cave complex stretches for 4 kilometers, although only 300 meters are open to the public. Inside, the bright path winds between stalactites and stalagmites until it reaches a 120 meter long salt lake.
