(New Year, a new bath!)

Happy New Year! Since at least 2000 BC, humans have celebrated the arrival of the New Year, although different cultures have chosen dates based on the vernal equinox or lunar cycle. The Romans designated January 1st as the beginning of 153 BC, but this practice lost popularity in Europe during the Middle Ages. It was not until 1582, with the adoption of the Gregorian calendar, that most parts of the world began to commemorate the New Year on January 1st. In addition to fireworks, champagne toasts, and determination, many cultures also include traditions such as making noise, eating lucky food, or exchanging gifts.
