(Pretty fluffy.)

The Swaledale sheep in our picture today are an impressive breed named after the Swaledale Valley in Yorkshire, England. Widely spread in the more mountainous areas of the UK, particularly the Yorkshire Dales, County Durham and the Pennine Hills of Cumbria, Swaledale sheep are known for their resilient nature, making them perfect for rough areas. They have thick, coarse wool, black faces with white markings around the nose and eyes and both sexes wear curled horns, whereby those of the males are significantly larger. The ewes are excellent mothers and able to raise their lambs well even in adverse natural conditions. The wool of the Swaledale sheep is durable, but of little commercial value. Nevertheless, due to its durability, it is used for carpets, blankets and insulation materials.
