Vernazza is a village in Cinque Terre, northwest Italy, located on steep cliffs in Riviera. Here, ancient buildings stand along the coast of the Liguria Sea, and life is filled with the noise of fishermen. The name Vernazza comes from the local wine "Vernaccia", which means "local" or "ours". One of the most famous monuments in the region is Doria Castle, built in the 15th century as a defensive fortress aimed at protecting the town from frequent pirate attacks.
