About 18000 bird species are known around the world. Birds come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and behaviors, making them one of the most diverse animal groups on Earth: from majestic eagles to today's Little Snow Winged Star, a leukemia Anna hummingbird. These hummingbirds are usually brightly colored, but an increase in white blood cells means that their pigment deposition is reduced, leading to a pale complexion. Unlike albino birds, these hummingbirds retain some colors in their eyes. Their shallower feathers reduce protective camouflage, making them more vulnerable to predators such as falcons and wild cats.
