(You're at Big Apple!)

Have you ever thought about the bustling life of Big Apple in the past? Today's image takes us to a city that never sleeps: Union Square in Lower Manhattan, New York, USA. At this historic intersection, there is a statue of Abraham Lincoln, the oldest of all parks in New York, created by George Washington and sculptor Henry Kirk Brown. In 1882, workers exercised their right to freedom of speech and assembly and organized the first Labor Day parade at Union Square. In 1997, the US Department of the Interior recognized the park as a national historical monument due to its significance in American labor history. Today, it is more likely to see street chess players, musicians, ice skaters, dance groups, and various sellers on the square.
