The Holstentor in Lübeck is considered a landmark of the Hanseatic city. This is a late Gothic building built between 1464 and 1478. It borders the city to the west and is the only surviving city gate in Lübeck. A very interesting aspect concerns the construction. The outer side has only a few windows, as it was primarily used to defend against enemy attacks. The inside of the Holstein Gate, on the other hand, has many nearby windows and gives it its elegant and prestigious appearance.
