Conwy River Festival

Set sail through time at the Conwy River Festival! This event was first held in 1993 on the Conwy quayside beneath Conwy Castle, capturing the essence of Welsh seafaring heritage. Boating enthusiasts indulge in a friendly contest on Quay Day, a free open-air event, racing traditional and modern crafts. People gather to witness the nautical parade and enjoy local delicacies like bara brith, a tea bread flavored with tea, dried fruits and spices, and laverbread which consists of edible seaweed.
Conwy Castle was built between 1283 and 1287 by King Edward I during his conquest of Wales. Designed by James of St. George, known as one of the greatest architects of the European Middle Ages, this castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The river below, the Conwy, is 34 miles long and gets its name from the Welsh words 'cyn' (chief) and 'gwy' (water). Conwy Castle and the river are a timeless tribute to Wales’s rich and turbulent past.
