Do you know the sparrow owl, a fascinating bird with a long pointed tail and a small head resembling a hawk? It lives in the boreal forests of North America and Europe, from Norway and Sweden to Kamchatka and Sakhalin, as well as in Alaska and Canada. Today's picture shows a sparrow owl in Canada, carefully observing its surroundings. This owl is active during the day, has excellent hearing and can dive for rodents in the snow.
