When spring in Iceland gives way to summer, the steep scenery provides a colorful parade. Lupin beans were introduced to Iceland in the 1940s to control soil erosion due to their root binding properties. This plant blooms in sandy and saline soil and spreads rapidly, depicting the land in shades of purple, pink, and blue. Although some people believe that Altlamuz is an invasive species that threatens native plants, its arrival is welcomed by locals and tourists, making it a valuable feature of summer landscapes. The lufan bean fields are located in multiple areas such as Reykjavik, near Skografoss Falls. These flowers are also traveling along the road leading to the Hellissandur Church on the Sneifelsnes Peninsula, as shown in today's image.
