This beautiful moated castle on the Flensborg Fjord is regarded as one of the most important Renaissance castles in northern Europe. Located in the northernmost town of Germany near the Denmark border, it is the seat of the House of Glücksburg and was also used by Danish kings. Glücksburg Castle was built on the site of a monastery in the 1580s and sits on a 2.5-metre-high granite foundation that emerges from the water. Today, the castle is used as a museum and hosts various events. You can explore the rooms and grounds, which includes a spectacular rose garden with more than 500 different roses.
