Birds in Brittany!
How happy they look! These little sanderlings are obviously looking for food on a Breton beach. These shorebirds spend summers in northeastern Greenland, their main nesting site, which they reach by stopping over in Iceland. In winter, these small wading birds migrate to the southern regions. Some of them will set up their base camp on the Breton beaches, others will make the effort to go to Portugal for (even) more heat. Those in our image of the day look quite happy in Brittany and we understand them!
